The SMA Service Rebate for Installers

We pay the SMA service rebate to installers who carry out repair or replacement services for their customers in the event of a warranty claim. The principle: You support us in a warranty case, and we thank you with a rebate payment – fast and hassle-free.

When am I entitled to a service rebate?

If you, as an installer, carry out a warranty replacement within a country with the SMA Service Status Comfort and the product is listed in these warranty conditions, you can invoice SMA for the service rebate.

How do I receive the service rebate?

After requesting a replacement device via the Online Service Center and completing the replacement:

  1. Log in to the Online Service Center and go to “My Cases”.

  2. Open the case through which you ordered the replacement device. At the bottom of the page, you’ll find the “OSC Replacement Report”.

  3. Fill out the “OSC Replacement Report”.

  4. Upload your replacement invoice at the bottom of the report form.

After review by SMA, the service reimbursement will be credited to your account.

How do I create an invoice for the SMA service rebate?

The service compensation is structured as follows:

We charge a €100 fixed fee for travel and setup.

Additionally, we compensate individual service tasks on SMA products: For replacing a product < 50 kg: €20* For every extra product or component replaced on the same day and within the same system: €20.

*€30 for large products > 50 kg. Example for installers in Germany. Amounts may vary by country. SMA specialist partners and service providers may apply different rates.

Service Rebate Payment Requirements*

The following points should be noted:

  • The defective device must be under factory warranty or Comfort extended warranty.

  • The service rebate is only reimbursed to installers. The service must not be performed by your customer.

  • The service assignment must be coordinated in advance with our Service Line or the replacement device must be ordered via our website. Always note the associated ticket number, as we cannot pay the service rebate without it.

  • The claimed device must have already been received by SMA.

  • The service rebate is reimbursed only for warranty cases under our conditions, and not if there is customer fault or overvoltage damage (such as lightning).

  • Only updates commissioned by our Service Line will be reimbursed (exceptions reserved by SMA).

  • The service must be invoiced within 12 months after it has been provided.

Please also note that we do not reimburse the service rebate for the following services:

  • Use of auxiliary equipment (e.g. lifting platforms)

  • Execution of additional tasks (e.g. integration into communication systems)

  • Deployment of support staff

  • Execution of updates and firmware replacement (exception: commissioned by Service Line)

  • Additional costs due to late, night, Sunday, or holiday surcharges

  • Replacement of communication products (exception: the update and firmware replacement was commissioned by the Service Line)

  • Replacement or modification of interfaces (exception: commissioned by Service Line)

  • Execution of fault analyses and use of measuring equipment

*This does not apply in cases of injury to life, body, or health, or in cases of intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty by SMA, or in cases of fraudulent concealment of a defect.

Examples:

  • You replace an inverter under 50 kg for your customer:
    €100 (basic rebate) + €20 (inverter < 50 kg) = €120

  • You replace an inverter over 50 kg for your customer:
    €100 (basic rebate) + €30 (inverter > 50 kg) = €130

  • You replace an inverter < 50 kg and two additional devices < 50 kg on the same day in the same system:
    €100 (basic rebate) + €20 (inverter < 50 kg) + €20 (additional device) + €20 (additional device) = €160

  • You replace an inverter > 50 kg and one additional device > 50 kg on the same day and system:
    €100 (basic rebate) + €30 (inverter > 50 kg) + €20 (additional device) = €150
