SMA Energy System Home

Manage and distribute solar energy

Manage appliances intelligently

Systematic and intelligent energy management

SMA Energy Systems Home ensures that your home appliances are operated only in periods when your PV system is delivering sufficient solar power – manually or completely automatically. This helps increase the share of solar power that you consume yourself.

Optimally coordinate all energy flows

The Sunny Home Manager 2.0 combines all energy flows in your home to create an intelligent system and, upon request, can control them automatically to help you get the most out of your solar power. On the basis of an online weather forecast and your own consumption analysis, the system creates a day-by-day yield forecast. As a result, the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 knows in advance exactly when a lot of solar power will be available and when the right time is to start the washing machine.

Application example

A day with an SMA Energy Systems Home.

  • 06:30

It is early morning and the sun is already shining. Your PV system starts to charge your battery-storage system. A little later, your fully loaded smart washing machine is set to standby mode.

  • 07:00

Late in the morning, the sky is clouding over. Thanks to the weather forecast, however, your system knows that sufficient power will be available to start the washing machine in one hour and thus continues to charge the battery.

  • 12:30

The SMA Energy System for your home has learned that food is cooked at midday. If it is at all possible, cooking is to be powered by solar power. The washing machine has therefore been scheduled to run only after cooking is finished. Since the PV system cannot currently supply sufficient solar power, the cooker is powered from the storage system.

  • 14:00

Early in the afternoon, the sun is coming out again. The PV system can provide sufficient solar power and the washing machine is started.

  • 16:00

When the washing machine has finished its cycle, your battery is re-charged — so that it is full, if possible. Only the solar power that you do not require and that you cannot save is fed into the utility grid. This ensures that you use as much of your self-generated solar power as possible – after all, this is the most cost-effective solution for you.

  • 20:30

In the evening, the power required for cooking dinner, watching television and surfing the Internet is drawn from the solar storage system. Only when this is empty is the power purchased from the utility grid.
