Sunny Tripower Hybrid X 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 15
The three-phase hybrid inverter with integrated energy management
The Sunny Tripower Hybrid X combines inverter and energy management in a single device.
The integrated energy management controls the energy flows within the system and coordinates generation, storage, and consumption.
This creates a system that can be easily planned, quickly commissioned, and securely operated – offering greater flexibility during installation and reduced complexity in operation.
Product availability may vary by country.

Important information for the commissioning of the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X
Conclusion
Before initial commissioning:
Update apps
Check and update firmware statuses
Note special features for SMA eCharger, backup power operation or Sunny Home Manager
Perform system commissioning on the designated system manager
This ensures that your system with the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X is set up in accordance with the current specifications.
Initial installation with new devices
Basic system with Sunny Tripower Hybrid X and battery
Commissioning can be carried out conveniently via the SMA 360° App.
Before initial commissioning, please perform a manual update of the SMA 360° App (Version ≥ 3.0.x) and the SMA Energy App (Version ≥ 1.33.x) via the respective App Store.
Note for Android users: The SMA 360° App is being gradually released in the Google Play Store and will be available to all users by July 20, 2026. If you plan to commission your system before then, please install the app directly using the following Google Play link: SMA 360° – Apps bei Google Play.If there are several inverters in the system, system commissioning should be carried out via the SMA 360° App on the device that is to act as the system manager. The Sunny Tripower Hybrid X is recommended for this purpose.
SMA Energy Maximizer
The new energy management system can be activated via the SMA 360° App, the SMA Energy App or the Sunny Portal.
The test period for SMA Premium can then be started.
Systems with SMA eCharger
For systems with SMA eCharger, the SMA eCharger must be updated to firmware version 2.7 using the SMA 360° App before commissioning the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X.
The subsequent system commissioning via the SMA 360° app should be carried out on the device that is to act as the system manager. The Sunny Tripower Hybrid X is recommended for this purpose.
Systems with backup power operation
The SMA Energy Meter must be installed on the grid side in front of the backup box, as it detects the return of the grid after a grid failure in systems with Sunny Tripower Hybrid X.
Update the inverter to the latest firmware during initial commissioning so that the rotating field of the customer's system is correctly detected and the prerequisites for backup operation are met.
If there are several Sunny Tripower Hybrid X in the system, the backup box must be connected to the inverter that acts as the system manager.
Systems connected to a smart meter gateway (§ 14a EnWG / § 9 EEG)
Additional settings are required for the parameterization of the EEBUS communication with the grid operator's control box.
The corresponding technical documentation will be made available shortly.
Systems with Sunny Home Manager
For systems with a Sunny Home Manager 2.0 in which a Sunny Tripower Hybrid X is to be used as a subordinate device, an up-to-date software version of the Sunny Home Manager is required.
Therefore, check the software version of your Sunny Home Manager 2.0 before installation.
If software version ≥ 2.19.1.R is already installed, no further action is required.
If the software version is lower, please contact shmfeldtest@sma.de by e-mail two days before commissioning and provide the serial number of the planned Sunny Home Manager 2.0.
Based on the serial number, the currently released software version for Sunny Home Manager 2.0 is automatically installed during initial commissioning.
Important: Backup operation is not supported in conjunction with the Sunny Home Manager. For applications with backup power operation, please use the Sunny Tripower Hybrid X as the system manager.
Installation in existing systems
Conversion of a Sunny Home Manager system
Additional steps are required when converting an existing Sunny Home Manager system to a system with an integrated System Manager with SMA Energy Maximizer or SMA Energy Planner.
The corresponding technical documentation will be made available shortly.
Using an existing SMA eCharger
Note: The following steps are not necessary if the system continues to run as a Sunny Home Manager system.
If you continue to use an existing SMA eCharger, please follow the following procedure:
Relevant data must be backed up before the factory reset (e.g., RFID mappings and power management settings).
Update the SMA eCharger to the required firmware version.
After the firmware update, reset the SMA eCharger to factory settings via the integrated user interface.
Then start the system commissioning at the designated system manager.
