SMA Now Offering Free Online Monitoring for Sunny Boy Inverters

SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA) is now offering private system operators free access to online monitoring of their PV systems. The necessary Webconnect technology will be integrated as a standard feature in all current Sunny Boy inverters for private PV systems, free of charge. All system operators who opt for a Sunny Boy in power classes of up to 6 kW will benefit from this offer.

Compare, analyze and visualize PV system data
The Sunny Boy connects to the Internet via the residential DSL router. Falko Schmidt, Product Manager at SMA, explained some of the benefits: “First, Sunny Places, the community portal for PV systems, offers homeowners the option of not only keeping an eye on their own PV system data, but also comparing it to that of other PV system operators. In addition, system monitoring with Sunny Portal, the world’s largest online portal for PV systems, offers infinite options for analyzing data and visualizing yields.”

Advantages for PV system operators and installers
Monitoring PV systems online has some distinct advantages, compared to local monitoring: PV system operators can ensure their yields and access their PV system data anytime, from anywhere. “With Sunny Portal, it’s easy to access the system data with the provided app. Sunny Places automatically scales to the end device’s display,” continued Schmidt. The installer also benefits: With the PV system operator’s permission to access the online data, he can be immediately available for support in the event of an incident.

Sunny Boy inverters available with Webconnect
To enjoy the advantages of online monitoring free of charge, PV system operators can opt for one of the following Sunny Boy inverters:

Sunny Boy TL in power classes 3 to 6 kW
Sunny Boy TL Single Tracker in 2.5 and 3 kW versions
Sunny Boy 240 micro inverter
Sunny Boy Smart Energy with 3.6 and 5 kW
Sunny Boy devices in power classes 1.3 to 2.1 kW
