SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA) will be showcasing how a future-proof energy supply can look today at The Smarter E Europe trade fair in Munich (Hall B3.210) from June 23 to 25, 2026. The spotlight will be on solutions for private households and commercial applications, as well as power plant and utility-scale installations, which intelligently combine predictability, cost-effectiveness, resilience, and security. SMA supports users in reliably managing their energy flows, minimizing the risk of outages and safeguarding investments. A comprehensive, integrated cybersecurity architecture “made by SMA,” combined with data hosting within the European Union, forms the foundation for secure and trustworthy operation throughout the entire lifecycle.
“For 45 years, SMA has been rethinking energy, from the first decentralized solutions to today’s fully integrated energy systems,” says Jürgen Reinert, CEO of SMA Solar Technology AG. “In an increasingly volatile market environment, it is crucial to make energy affordable, predictable, and available at all times. Our solutions therefore combine cost-effectiveness, supply security and cybersecurity throughout the entire value chain. At The Smarter E Europe, we will demonstrate how these requirements can be implemented in practice with scalable systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications. I’m very much looking forward to engaging with our customers and partners.”
World premiere at Intersolar: SMA is introducing a new generation of three-phased hybrid inverters
Visitors can see one of the highlights of this year’s The Smarter E Europe live at the booth: The new generation of SMA’s three-phased hybrid inverters with integrated energy management, an optional backup solution, and the new SMA battery storage system will celebrate its world premiere on the first day of the trade fair, June 23, 2026. With power classes ranging from 5 kVA to 30 kVA and a storage capacity of 3.2 kWh to 49 kWh, they offer energy independence for homes and small commercial businesses. In combination with integrated energy management, they ensure lower energy costs.
The new hybrid inverters are part of the SMA Home and Small Commercial Energy Solution. In addition to intelligently controlling the home energy supply, including the PV system, battery storage, and wallbox, the solution now also supports the use of dynamic tariffs. Dynamic tariffs and smart energy management allow households to flexibly adjust their energy consumption to current market prices – for additional savings potential and more self-consumed solar power.
SMA expands commercial portfolio: Storage and all-in-one solutions for maximum energy efficiency
A new product for commercial customers is the recently launched SMA Storage XL Package. The solution includes an indoor or outdoor battery cabinet as well as the Sunny Tripower Storage X battery inverter. It offers high capacity, comprehensive safety features, as well as a ten-year system warranty. The solution ensures optimized self-consumption and peak load shaving. This allows users to maintain full control over their energy consumption at all times. In the event of power outages or in regions generally off the grid, the new SMA Backup and Off-Grid Boxes provide additional security for the energy supply. Available in indoor and outdoor versions, they feature extensive connection options and a 10-year system and battery capacity warranty.
The Sunny Tripower X 60 inverter combines high efficiency, integrated energy management functions, and modern safety standards in a single unit for commercial use, whether in agriculture, manufacturing, retail, or numerous other industries. The Sunny Tripower X 60 combines a compact design with a construction optimized for wall mounting, ensuring quick and easy installation. The Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS also enables dynamic active and reactive power management to maximize grid stability. Designed for commercial applications, the SMA Commercial Energy Solution is a scalable all-in-one solution comprising inverters, battery storage, a wallbox for e-mobility, and energy management. It provides comprehensive coverage for a wide range of applications.
SMA presents new Large Scale Solutions: Stability Enhanced DC Coupled Hybrid Solution, grid-forming system technology and first solutions for Critical Loads
In the field of utility-scale applications, SMA has always stood for integrated, holistic solutions that combine power conversion, medium voltage systems, control, and management, all the way through to grid integration across photovoltaics, battery storage and electrolysis into an intelligent overall solution. Utility-scale photovoltaic plants and battery storage systems are evolving into high-performance hybrid power plants that enable predictable and revenue-optimized energy generation while stabilizing power systems through grid-forming technologies.
SMA is responding to this development and is presenting the Large Scale Stability Enhanced DC Coupled Hybrid Solution at The Smarter E Europe. For the first time, it enables grid-forming PV systems: The hybrid solution combines highly efficient DC coupling, grid-forming inverter technology, and grid-stabilizing plant control in an integrated hybrid solution. The result is higher energy yields, stable system performance, and significantly reduced total system costs.
With the MVPS 9200, SMA is also showcasing its all-in-one Medium Voltage Power Station. It integrates two high-performance inverters, two transformers, and a medium-voltage switchgear, all combined on a compact 40-foot turnkey skid. The redundant system design enables continued operation even in the event of a transformer failure. This maximizes availability by reducing downtime and lowering operating costs. An optimized footprint and simplified logistics further reduce transport and installation costs, ideal for integration into PV power plants and battery storage systems.
With SMA Large Scale Critical Load Solutions, SMA is introducing new solutions in Europe for the first time. They address the integration of large consumers such as data centers, whose highly dynamic load profiles place special demands on grid stability, system integration, and control. Building on decades of experience in utility-scale system engineering and high- and extra-high-voltage grid integration, SMA develops solutions that specifically utilize battery and control systems to stabilize load fluctuations and enable safe, grid-optimized operation of critical loads.
SMA and SMA Altenso as Finalists for The Smarter E Award 2026
SMA and its subsidiary SMA Altenso have been nominated as finalists for the prestigious The Smarter E Award 2026 in the “Outstanding Projects” category. SMA Altenso impressed the jury with Africa’s first integrated green hydrogen production plant in Namibia, which is entirely off-grid and powered by solar energy. SMA was also nominated for a 100 percent solar-powered charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on Gran Canaria. The nominations recognize two groundbreaking projects that demonstrate how renewable energy can be used economically, reliably, and safely in various application areas—from cross-sector energy generation to sustainable mobility. The winners will be announced on June 22, 2026, in Munich.
