SMA Solar Technology AG is promoted into TecDAX

Only a few months after the initial public offering of SMA Solar Technology AG (FWB: S92) the shares of the company will be listed in the TecDAX. The decision concerning the promotion into the important index was announced by "Deutsche Börse" shortly after a meeting of the "Arbeitskreis Aktienindizes" (i.e. "Working Group Share Indices"). The working group advises Deutsche Börse in terms of promotions or terminations of listings in the indices on a three month basis.

SMA is worldwide market leader with inverters for photovoltaic power plants and is listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since the 27th of June 2008. In the current year SMA could present an extremely positive business result and experienced a significant turnover and profit increase. In the first six months of the year the turnover on its own increased by 157 % to 292.6 million Euro compared with the same period of the previous year. This nearly represents the total turnover of the entire year 2007. The sold inverter power could be tripled to 895 Megawatts compared with the same period in 2007. SMA expects a total turnover between 580 million and 640 million Euro for the year 2008. This would represent an increase of 80 or even 100 % compared with 2007.

"After the excellent initial public offering we are happy that our company now is qualified for the listing in the Technology Index and the shares are thereby even more attractive for investors", says Günther Cramer, Spokesman of the Board of SMA Solar Technology AG. "The listing of SMA as one further solar business furthermore underlines the continuously increasing importance of the photovoltaics business for the national and international markets."

The actual trading of the shares of SMA Solar Technology AG within the TecDAX will begin on the 22nd of September 2008.
