SMA and TESVOLT Collaborate in the Battery-Storage System Sector

SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA) collaborates with commercial storage system manufacturer TESVOLT. SMA has now qualified TESVOLT’s lithium storage system for use with the SMA Sunny Island battery inverter. The combined system of battery and battery inverter can be used in PV systems and CHP plants as well as in wind power plants and in hydroelectric power plants. It enables companies in the commercial sector to sustainably and cost-effectively reduce their energy costs.

“Qualifying TESVOLT’s lithium storage systems for use with SMA inverters was an important step for us,” said Volker Wachenfeld, Executive Vice President of the Off-Grid and Storage business unit at SMA. “It offers companies new energy storage options that help them maximize their self-consumption of PV power. The Sunny Island inverter was developed to optimize the performance and efficiency of energy supply systems, and can be used in both off-grid and grid-tied systems.”

In addition to being able to be used in almost every type of energy generation system connected to the low-voltage grid, the combination of a lithium battery-storage system and Sunny Island battery inverter also offers unlimited use in off-grid applications.

“Our battery-storage systems, in combination with the Sunny Island, have one of the highest levels of overall system efficiency on the market currently at 79–84%,” said Simon Schandert, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at TESVOLT. “This high level of efficiency ensures that businesses are often able to generate their own electricity for less than 14 cents per kWh—with the original costs for the storage system and PV system already factored in.”

About TESVOLT:
About TESVOLT TESVOLT specializes in commercial battery-storage systems. The innovative company produces various sizes of lithium storage systems with capacities of 10 to 120 kWh. Depending on the desired storage system size, they can be flexibly combined—for example to create a large-scale storage system with a capacity of 1 MWh, which TESVOLT supplies as a ready-to-use container. All storage systems are available with different charging speeds, with customers being also able to subsequently expand the system at any time. Thanks to this modular system concept, TESVOLT storage systems work with any application. TESVOLT’s battery-storage systems have one of the best levels of overall efficiency on the market. Intelligent monitoring of each individual battery cell ensures a long service life of the storage systems. The energy storage systems are manufactured in Germany.
