SMA America Launches Interactive Solar Site for Kids

ROCKLIN, Calif., Oct. 14, 2008—SMA America, Inc., the United States division of global solar technology giant SMA Solar Technology AG, has launched an educational Web site created specifically for children: www.Solar-is-Future.com/Kids. The fun, interactive site features animation, diagrams and games that illustrate how solar energy is harvested and utilized, all while using easy-to-understand language appropriate for this younger audience.

Solar-is-Future.com/Kids is separated into four sections or “Worlds”: Home, Sun, Environment and Solar Power. Each world features a downloadable book, quiz and an interactive game. Also at the site, visitors can send e-cards and solar power related links to friends.

The unveiling of Solar-is-Future.com/Kids comes on the heels of the launch of Solar-is-Future.com—a user-friendly, educational Web site for adults, also created by SMA America. At Solar-is-Future.com, visitors can research the benefits of solar power and how the sun’s abundant, clean energy can be collected through active and passive solar power systems. A key highlight on the site is an animated grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) system that clearly shows how PV system components are connected and examples of where the components would be installed in a residential system. There also is a Solar Power Professional Search, Frequently Asked Questions section and comprehensive glossary of industry terms.
