The SMA Energy App makes saving energy even easier

Is the sun’s energy just being used to wash my laundry or is it flowing into the battery-storage system? Homeowners who generate their own solar power also want to know what happens to it. SMA developed the new SMA Energy App precisely for this purpose. It visualizes solar power production and use, displays self-consumption and grid-supplied power and, if available, provides information about the battery-storage system’s state of charge. Drivers of electric vehicles having installed the new SMA EV Charger can use the SMA Energy App to conveniently plan the charging of their electric vehicles also from their sofas, using as much cost-effective solar energy as possible.

Following on the heels of the SMA 360° app that provides comprehensive support for installers in their daily work, the SMA Energy App is precisely tailored to the needs of end customers with PV systems and is designed to facilitate energy saving. All relevant energy data from the online SMA Sunny Portal is easily visualized on the intuitive, easy-to-use interface. This includes not only the current energy yield, self-consumption and residual current from the utility grid, but also the carbon footprint that the household has left behind since it started generating solar power. If you have a battery-storage system to use even more sustainable solar power for your own ends, you can also view its state of charge via the app. Drivers of electric vehicles using the new SMA EV Charger can now use the new SMA Energy App to conveniently plan the charging of their vehicles according to their needs.

“With the SMA Energy App, we are making it even easier for our customers to benefit from their SMA Energy Systems in the future, as all appliances in the household connected to the Sunny Home Manager will also soon be able to be controlled via the app,” explained Benjamin Blaurock, Product Manager of Digital Components at SMA. “Being able to view a history of your own energy and cost balance is a practical tool for all app users who want to save even more energy. This reveals hidden energy guzzlers and helps avoid wasting energy in the future.”

The SMA Energy App for Germany, Austria and Switzerland can now be downloaded from app stores. It will also be available for Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Australia by the beginning of October.
