The severe shortage of semiconductors and electronic components on the world market leads to a partly dramatic extension of delivery times for critical components. Unfortunately, this development is increasingly affecting manufacturers in the solar industry. The consequence: a high dynamic and the partly very short term adjustment of current availabilities and delivery times of products.
In addition to personal consultations and product information, we would therefore like to offer you the opportunity here in the SMA Customer Portal to get a quick overview of the current situation at any time. In the protected area you will find daily updated information on the following topics:
- Availability of our products
- Current delivery times
- Alternative solutions
- Detailled product information
We are aware of what this difficult situation means for you and regret the current development very much. We assure you that we are examining every possible option and are working company-wide to mitigate the consequences of the component shortage for you and to develop alternative solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Even we are not in a position to reliably forecast further developments at present. Based on current knowledge, we assume that the material supply will remain tight in 2022 due to the high dynamics in the supplier environment.
We, too, have relied on the supply commitments of the semiconductor industry and made them the basis of our planning. In order to be able to meet the continuing high demand for SMA devices, we maintain sufficient production capacities. Due to the withdrawal, in some cases at very short notice, of deliveries already promised by the semiconductor industry, we are currently unable to fully utilize this capacity. This leads directly to production restrictions for some of our devices, although we are doing everything we can to realize some of these quantities on time. Nevertheless, from today's perspective, we will unfortunately not be able to deliver all confirmed devices on time. We are currently regenerating corresponding delivery commitments with the quantities that we can confirm. You can find more information in the protected portal area.
Of course, we have taken extensive measures to manage and cushion this supply crisis and its consequences for you in the best possible way:
Establishment of a cross-divisional task force at top management level to continuously develop, evaluate and implement procurement, production and allocation measures.
Close cooperation with the procurement teams of our semiconductor suppliers
Daily escalation meetings with critical suppliers and their involved sub-suppliers at all management levels
Focus on alternative devices and use of redesign opportunities of particularly affected series wherever possible
In addition, we are in continuous negotiations with companies in the semiconductor industry in order to achieve an increase in delivery quantities. Naturally, we will keep you closely informed about further developments.
