SMA. High-tech System Technology for PV power stations.
Inverters are the power electronics control center of PV power stations. For both centralized or decentralizd systems, compatibility with every type of module and designed to run for at least 20 years, SMA PV inverters combine state of the art technologies in a compact design. This means higher efficiency and thus enhanced energy yield and reduced system costs. Our customers have the freedom to choose the extent to which they use our extensive range of system engineering. They can choose between individual components in modular design, coordinated packages, or completely turnkey solutions.
Example of a centralized plant configuration:
The Sunny Central 800CP, winner of the Intersolar Award 2010, combines many state of the art technologies and in an extremely compact design. Intelligent Power Management, the OptiCool cooling concept and integrated monitoring functions reduce system costs by an incredible 35 percent. Its unmatched overload capacity ensures 100 percent rated output at outside temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius. Up to 25 degrees Celsius, the CP series can even reach a 10 percent higher rated output. On top of this, the outdoor concept renders additional investments in concrete stations unnecessary, including transport and installation costs.
Example of a decentralized plant configuration:
Sunny Tripower, winner of the Innovation Prize awarded at the Symposium for Photovoltaic Solar Energy in Bad Staffelstein, is suited to almost any module configuration thanks to its integrated Optiflex technology with two MPP inputs and extremely broad input voltage range. It is highly flexible in terms of plant design including well into the megawatt range. Of course, the Sunny Tripower is equipped with all the necessary technical requirements for a reliable contribution to grid management, such as reactive power capability, string monitoring and integrated DC overvoltage protector Type II.
Control and communication technology:
The SMA Power Plant Control System provides PV power station operators with not only comprehensive yield performance monitoring, it also reacts dynamically to any change in the supply grid and thus makes an active contribution to grid integration. Whether there is an unexpected rise in grid frequency or fluctuation in grid voltage. Thanks to the SMA Power Plant Control System, the PV power station is able to contribute actively to grid stability. This reduces downtimes, improves forecasting of energy feed-in thus making it a controlled parameter in power plant operation.
